IN THE GARDEN - My process is gestural, intent imbedded in the action of making the marks.  These drawings are about the fundamental process of Creation.  The drawings embody rather than describe that process as energy, change, movement and metamorphosis.  They explore the underneath of Nature, the molecular, the causative, the seeds of Life.  The works are iconic, revolving around the interaction of the masculine/yang and the feminine/yin energies and the recording of events and instinctual movements.  Each drawing, though autonomous, acts as a component in the piece as a whole encouraging conversation between the elements.

TURTLE BACKS - Indigenous peoples regard the Turtle as the symbol for Earth, our home.  The shell represents that home for the turtle.   We come into this world equipped with a body to inhabit.  Mimicking the shape of the turtle shell, the outlines represent that body and the interior the seeds of our essential nature, the hand we are dealt to play out.

JOSHUA TREES - With its ability to grow amongst harsh and unforgiving terrain, these are symbolic of thriving despite and amidst adversity.
